red 1 logoThe Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, selected the joint venture team of Balfour Beatty Construction and Walton Construction to provide preconstruction services for the replacement hospital at Fort Riley, Kansas, with an option for construction services anticipated to be awarded in September 2009. The $334 million new facility will replace the existing 50-year-old Irwin Army Community Hospital and help provide state-of-the-art healthcare for the Army base.

The project includes a 263,000-square-foot hospital, a 289,000-square-foot clinic, a central energy plant, an ambulance garage, and supporting facilities. This fast-track project is scheduled to begin construction in Fall 2011 and complete by Spring 2013. Designed by architects Leo A Daly and RLF, the project will be designed and built to LEED Silver specifications and will utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM). The masonry has been spit up into four seperate packages between four seperate masonry contractors. Trio Masonry will be performing package 4C, the building stone work.
